AI Capabilities in a Creative World

26 May

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come a long way since its inception in the 1950s. From merely a theoretical concept, AI has evolved into a sophisticated technology that can perform complex tasks and solve intricate problems. But what about our creative world? How does it affect it? In this blog post of “The SOUL Hub”, we'll explore the capabilities of AI in the creative world and how it's transforming various industries.

Art & beats
All the AI models are machine learning algorithms that evolve and broaden their capabilities through the data that multiple users feed it. Art and music have been a topic of interest when it comes to AI researchers and artists alike. By feeding the system with datasets of images or music, the system is, therefore, able to learn, and actually create new pieces of art that are similar to the ones in the dataset. To be exact, AI-generated paintings by the French collective Obvious have sold for millions of dollars at auctions. Similarly, AI can generate compositions that are difficult to differentiate from those created by human musicians. For instance, in 2017, Sony released the first AI-generated pop song, "Daddy's Car," which was composed by an AI system called Flow Machines.

The perfect click
AI is also being used in the film industry to automate video editing, visual effects, and post-production tasks. For example, the AI-powered platform ScriptBook can analyze a screenplay and predict its box office success with an accuracy rate of up to 84%. The platform uses a machine learning algorithm to analyze over 30,000 screenplays and their corresponding box office performance. Hence it may save filmmakers time and money by predicting which films are likely to be successful before they are even made. AI is also widely used in Photography and the algorithm is capable of producing images even worth winning contests (It happened).

Content Creation
Social media platforms are also using AI to generate content. For instance, Facebook's AI system can create photo-realistic images of people who don't exist. This system uses a generative adversarial network (GAN) to create new images that are indistinguishable from real ones. Additionally, individuals, leverage AI systems can analyze user behavior and generate personalized content recommendations such as news, videos, and products.

A wrap-up
AI has become an integral part of our daily lives, and its capabilities in the creative world are constantly expanding. From generating art and music to predicting box office success, AI has the potential to revolutionize various industries. While some fear that AI will replace human creativity, it's more likely that AI will complement and enhance human creativity, enabling us to achieve once unimaginable things. The possibilities of AI in the creative world are endless, and we're only just scratching the surface of what it can do.
